Unlocking secrets across Iki Island in Ghost of Tsushima Director's Cut offers players some of the most memorable exploration challenges in the game. Among these hidden tasks is the Monkey See trophy, an unlisted achievement that demands careful observation on Saruiwa Mountain. Navigating this mountain path requires finding three specific stone monkey statues and performing the appropriate gesture for each.
Starting the Journey Up Saruiwa Mountain
Saruiwa Mountain is situated at the southwestern tip of Iki Island and serves as a primary location for animal exploration. To begin your ascent, locate the stone staircase flanked by two large monkey statues at the base. Following this path introduces players to off-the-beaten-path opportunities required for unlocking the trophy.
As you progress upward, keep an eye out for environmental clues that hint at side climbing paths. Taking time to explore these secondary routes guarantees you will not miss any necessary interactions along the way.
Finding the Hear No Evil Statue
The first statue is hidden on a rocky outcropping off the main climbing trail near the base of the mountain. Players must scale a nearby rock wall and navigate a slackline to reach this isolated stone figure.
Because this monkey statue covers its ears, non-verbal auditory interaction is necessary to satisfy the requirement. Pull out Jin's flute and play any song while standing directly in front of the statue to trigger a short confirmation cutscene.
Locating the See No Evil Statue
Continuing up the mountain path brings players toward a narrow rock passage where the climbing sequence advances. Look carefully for a ledge leading downward on the right side of the trail before proceeding forward.
Descend the cliff face to reach a small alcove housing the second statue with covered eyes. To honor this statue, throw a smoke bomb at Jin's feet to blind the area, triggering another brief cinematic.
Reaching the Speak No Evil Statue and Peak
Farther along the trail past a bamboo footbridge, players will encounter a spot where they must grapple down toward a small pool of water. Swim across the tide pool to find the final statue on the shore covering its mouth.
Stand in front of the statue and bow to complete the third ritual requirement. After honoring all three statues, climb to the peak of Saruiwa to finish the Monkey Sanctuary activity and receive the trophy.
